Rental Care and Tips
If you’re wondering on how best to look after your rental sunglasses, then you’re in the right place. Here is your guide to how to best care and handle the eyewear throughout your rental period.
The best thing to do is check the sunglasses when they first arrive. Take photos and ensure they’re in the condition you’d expect. From here on out, you’ll want to make sure that your sunglasses are kept inside the case provided when you aren’t wearing them.
Quick fire tips:
- Keep the sunglasses in their case when not on your face
- Keep away from harsh chemicals such as sun cream
- Keep out of salt water
- Don’t leave in direct sunlight
- Don’t leave them on your head (this will widen the sunglasses)
- Don’t clean with harsh chemicals
- Only use the microfiber cloth case to clean the sunglasses
The above tips are the easiest yet, the best ways to ensure that the sunglasses stay safe. As a rule of thumb, if they’re not of your face, they should be in a case. Then it is less likely they will endure any accidental damage.
It is easy to just take sunglasses off and place them on the side, or next to a sun lounger on a table. It happens all the time, and we're guilty of doing it to our own pairs of eyewear too. However, this greatly increases the chances of damaging the eyewear for a multitude of reasons. The main being accidental damage when something is places on top of them, or they are knocked to the ground. This ultimately leads to misplacing them too.
It is likely you'll wear sunglasses while wearing sun cream. However, sun cream and sunglasses don't mix well, especially the lenses. We'd suggest applying sun cream with the sunglasses in their case. Then, clean your hands before putting on the sunglasses. It is also best to not wear them in the sea or in swimming pools as the salt and chlorine will damage the eyewear.
Weirdly, sunglasses don't cope well being left out in the sun. So, like we keep saying, if they're not on your face, put them in a case. Leaving sunglasses in direct sunlight can cause damage to the lenses and sometimes start delaminating the lenses in extreme cases.
When you take the sunglasses off to walk inside, DON'T put them on the top of your head. This is such a common place to put your eyewear when not worn, but this will splay the arms of the sunglasses and misshape them. Best to put them in a case, or hang them from your top.
Only clean the eyewear with either specialist eyewear cleaner or lukewarm tap water. Don't rub the eyewear against your clothing as this can cause scratches on the lenses, instead use the microfiber bag provided or another eyewear cloth that generally is supplied with glasses cleaner.
We want you to enjoy you rental sunglasses as your own, but please remember these are designer goods and are to be used by others once you have finished your rental period. We can only do this if you care for the eyewear and are conscious about how you're handling and caring for them.
